Concession 6

Vic Forsyth, the previous year's club president, is the manager of Concession 6, located by Gate 10. Over the course of 3 years, he has cooked up Wimberley Market Days fare such as homemade chili, tacos, and assorted wraps. Other volunteers include Lions Cindy Forsyth, Tom Campbell, and Sharon Criswell. Nicknamed the Chili Haus, Lion Vic says Concession 6 has the "best chili on the field."

Market Days Concession 3

Doug McLean has been at Concession 3 since joining the Wimberley lions club in 2012, and then becoming manager in 2015. He described the concession as being close to the middle of Lions Field, at the cross-roads, off Lions Way. McLean said, "We are known for Ice Cream, which is why we are called the 'Smile Station.' We sell smiles and make people happy." Recently, Con 3 added root-beer floats, or any kind of soda floats, which are very popular with shoppers at Wimberley Market Days. They also sell other cold drinks, tacos, and other lunch items. Other Con 3 workers are second-shift assistant manager, Glenn Fezler, Roland Lemoine, and Kent Kenertz. Volunteers from Mini Equine 2 U, the EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens, And the Wimberley Leo Clubs help to round out the crew.

(The weather in Central Texas can be unpredictable and it can be raining in one place and 10 miles away it is dry. In order to help our vendors and shoppers we will update this section of the web site several times a day the week leading up to Market Day. It will display the weather as it is currently is within the Village of Wimberley.)

"Lions + Market Days = $4 Million in Grants to the Community"
Article by Frank Curtis

Did you know that all of the profits that the Wimberley Lions Club generates at Market Days go back into the community for local projects and activities? In the calendar year 2017, the Lions will have given almost $4,000,000 for worthy local endeavors. In the calendar year 2017, the Lions will contribute over $155,000 to local projects. The Wimberley Lions Club truly makes a difference in this community. Some of the types of activities that will be assisted in 2017 are college scholarships for 32 Wimberley students each year; youth exchange trips for about 10 Wimberley students; 8 non-school youth projects such as Boys and Girls Scouts, Special Olympics and the Hays County Youth Shelter; 10 in-school youth projects such as Leo Clubs in the Wimberley high schools, band support and academic improvement projects; and 24 community service projects of non-profit organizations such as Crisis Bread Basket, Emily Ann Theatre and the Wimberley Players.

Even the animals have not been overlooked by the Wimberley Lions. Worthy animal rescue projects such as WAG, PAWS and ARF will receive grants from the Lions in 2017.

Think of all these community grants made by the Wimberley Lions the next time you buy a barbecue plate and a drink. Think of these community organizations each time you park your car in a Lions Parking Lot. The money that you are paying is going back into the community for worthy causes through the Wimberley Lions Club.
